North Korea Fires Missile into East Sea

Eugene Park Views

North Korea fired a ballistic missile into the East Sea on the afternoon of the 14th. This is the first time North Korea has provoked a ballistic missile launch this year.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff announced on the day, “North Korea has launched a ballistic missile into the East Sea.” It’s been 27 days since they launched an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) on December 18 last year.

The military is currently analyzing the specifications of the launched object, including its flight distance, altitude, and speed.

Japan’s Ministry of Defense also announced that North Korea had launched an object suspected of being a ballistic missile and urged caution for vessels in navigation.

According to Japan’s NHK, the Japan Coast Guard, based on the information from the Ministry of Defense, announced at 3:11 pm on the day, “It appears that the object suspected of being a ballistic missile has already fallen.”

NHK reported, “The missile flew for about 73 minutes, and it appears that the flight distance was about 1,000 kilometers and the maximum altitude exceeded 6,000 kilometers.”

▲On the 18th of last month, North Korea’s state-run Korean Central Television reported on the 19th that North Korea had conducted a launch drill of the solid-fuel intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) Hwasong-18 under the supervision of Chairman of the State Affairs Commission Kim Jong Un.
