The Labor Newspaper reported on the 24th that North Korea is continuing its maintenance and strengthening plan in the metal industry sector.

The newspaper reported, “The construction of an energy-saving oxygen furnace is being promoted at the Hwanghae Iron and Steel Complex, while the construction of a continuous ingot furnace has been completed at the Chollima Steel Complex.”

In addition, they are focusing on their capabilities by setting a schedule to establish a process for steel production, refining, and soft rolling process using an electric furnace.

After establishing a steel regeneration process by ferroalloy, Chongjin Ironworks Steel Plant constructed a vertical nitrous oxide furnace and underwent a large-scale repair of the rotary furnace in the shortest time.

The newspaper added that Posan Iron Works is also actively progressing with constructing a vertical nitrous oxide furnace to ensure the demand for ferroalloy, which is increasing in metal factories.

Ferroalloy is produced using anthracite and iron ore produced in North Korea without using imported bituminous coal in producing pig iron, the raw material for producing iron.
