British model and actress Georgia Meacham has confessed to having a hearing impairment.

According to the New York Post online media on May 8th, Meacham has been hiding the fact that she has a hearing impairment for 12 years.

Meacham said, “I have been wearing hearing aids in both ears since I was 17 months old. I never felt the urge to hide my disability when I went to school wearing pink hearing aids as a child.”

She continued, “I was full of confidence when I was in school. I was never bullied because of my hearing impairment.” However, as she got older, Meacham began to feel anxious and confessed, “When I was in college, I wore my hair down to hide my hearing aids and deliberately avoided conversations about my disability.” Meacham stopped wearing her hearing aids when she entered the modeling industry at 18.

In response, Meacham said, “I learned to read lips to follow the instructions of photographers and directors.”

After transitioning to acting, Meacham appeared in Bridget Jones’s Baby and Wonder Woman 1984.

Recalling that time, she confessed, “I was mentally exhausted and constantly looking at lips. I made an effort to hide my secret,” adding a note of regret to her confession.

After hiding her true self for many years, Meacham said she is now ready to accept her hearing impairment.

Meacham stated, “People might look at me and think I’m a tall model who hasn’t struggled, but I want to show that there’s no specific look for disability.” It’s reported that Meacham is currently taking sign language classes.
