(Credit: Big Hit Music)]Financial authorities in South Korea have decided to file a complaint with the prosecution against Hybe Chairperson Bang Si-hyuk on charges of fraud, according to a local media report on Wednesday.

The Financial Supervisory Service is investigating Bang over allegations that he misled investors regarding the K-pop giant’s initial public offering (IPO) plans.

On Wednesday, Hybe, formerly known as Big Hit Entertainment, reiterated its position that it had committed no wrongdoing. The company stated it is fully cooperating with authorities and once again apologized for raising concerns over IPO-related issues.

According to the financial regulator, evidence has been secured indicating that Bang misled investors in 2019, resulting in a personal gain of 200 billion KRW ($145 million) when the company went public. If the decision to file a complaint is finalized at the commission’s regular session next week, Bang could face the most severe sanctions ever imposed on an individual for violating capital market laws.
