Tragedy Strikes: U.S. and China Stand with South Korea After Devastating Floods

(Yonhap)]The US and Chinese embassies in South Korea expressed their condolences on Tuesday to the victims of last week’s downpours, which left at least 19 people dead and nine missing.

The US Embassy in Seoul issued a statement on X, formerly known as Twitter, stating, “We offer our sincere condolences to the people of the Republic of Korea for the tragic loss of life and the extensive damage caused by the recent flooding and landslides.”

The embassy added, “We sincerely hope for the safety of all those affected and a rapid recovery for the communities still facing this tragedy.”

Late Monday, Chinese Ambassador to South Korea, Dai Bing, also extended his condolences. He offered heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved families and those injured in the disaster.

Ambassador Dai expressed confidence in South Korea’s resilience, stating, “We believe that the people in the affected areas will surely overcome this hardship through the joint efforts of the South Korean government and all sectors of society, and will return to normal production and life as soon as possible.”
