BoyNextDoor poses for a picture during a media showcase held at the KBS Arena in Gangseo-gu, western Seoul, Monday. (KOZ Entertainment)BoyNextDoor wants to move beyond just talk to fearless steps foward with its fifth mini album “The Action,” which was released Monday evening.

“I’m glad we can continue sharing new music with our fans, and I hope we can make the end of this year truly memorable,” Taesan told reporters during a media showcase held at the KBS Arena on release day.

As the title suggests, the new album reflects the group’s determination to challenge themselves to become better and their deep passion for growth. The six-member group talks about stepping outside its comfort zone for a new endeavor.

Sungho noted that the album expresses the group’s drive for growth. Riwoo went on to say that making an album is itself a challenge and a form of success for BoyNextDoor, adding that the group poured that spirit into the new album.

“Growth is something we all want, but it is not easy to take the first step. We want to say that it’s important to take action,” Riwoo said.

Taesan chimed in: “BoyNextDoor will take the leap without limiting ourselves.”

As in their previous works, four members — Jaehyun, Taesan, Woonhak and Leehan — took part in producing the album, adding a more personal touch to their music.

Leading the five-track package is “Hollywood Action,” which gives off a confident and charismatic energy, associating the group’s confidence with that of a Hollywood star. Woonhak explained that the member’s silky vocals and dynamic rap, paired with witty lyrics and upbeat brass over a swing rhythm, come together to create a cinematic melody.

Other side tracks are “Live In Paris,” “Jam!” “Bathroom” and “As Time Goes By.”

The main track shows a fresh, unexpected side of the group to fans and music listeners, noted Jaehyun. “The choreography this time is perfectly in sync, choreographed by Bada. It’s something fans might not have seen from us before,” he said.

When asked about what BoyNextDoor’s “next action” would be, Seong-ho said it was for the group to be recognized for its musical skills.

“Making an album is not a walk in the park, as it requires effort and growth. But with the new album, I want our music to be appreciated and recognized for its quality and our group’s musical talent.”
