A British woman in her twenties is in shock after contracting the so-called kissing disease after kissing a man she met at a club.

According to The Sun and Daily Mail, on June 28, 22-year-old Neve McRavey went to a club with her friends just before her graduation ceremony.

At the club, Neve kissed a man she had just met. The following day, she woke up with a sore throat so severe that she could hardly swallow.

She immediately went to the hospital, where they diagnosed her with tonsillitis and prescribed antibiotics.

However, her symptoms worsened despite the medication. She developed a fever, experienced vomiting, and even had trouble walking straight.

Neve revisited the hospital twice and was eventually diagnosed with kissing disease.

Kissing disease is a nickname for mononucleosis, an inflammatory disease caused by the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), one of the herpes viruses. It’s called kissing disease because EBV can spread through saliva during a kiss. Over 90% of mononucleosis cases result from infection with the EBV.

The main symptoms include fever, sore throat, and severe fatigue. The incubation period is typically 4 to 7 weeks; once infected, the virus remains in the body. While it rarely causes illness after the initial infection, it can still be transmitted to others.

There is no complete cure for this disease, so it must be treated with plenty of rest and hydration.

Practicing good personal hygiene and exercising caution when interacting with others is crucial to prevent this disease.

I can't imagine what this young lady is going through especially after just one kiss. Once she has returned to normal, will she be able to kiss again as this strain remains in her body or will she have to talk about this to anyone she intends to kiss. I wish her all the very best.
