Tesla’s New Model Y Design Sends Shockwaves Through the Industry

newautopost Views

Tesla’s New Bestseller Model Y: A 180-degree Transformation in Design is Turning Heads

Tesla’s top-selling model, the midsize electric crossover Model Y, dominated sales in March, with 5,934 units sold in the domestic market. Boosted by the Model Y’s robust sales figures, Tesla surpassed Mercedes to secure second in the domestic imported car market that month.

Furthermore, Model Y is garnering high interest worldwide. However, rumors have spread that Tesla is preparing to launch the new Model Y. Although the release timeline was explicitly mentioned after the launch of the new Model 3, the rumors were put to rest when Tesla denied them.

Bold Design Applied: Rampant Speculations Surrounding Model Y

However, consumers’ expectations for the new Model Y have not subsided. There were rampant speculations about Model Y. Some forecasts facelifting of Model Y would take place for exterior modifications as the new Model 3. In contrast, others suggest that it would skip the outer part and be entirely changed to a second-generation model for release.

In the midst of this, an overseas rendering designer released the imaginary design of the new Model Y. While the designer could have created the prediction based on changes in the lamp and bumper design of the new Model 3, the designer presented a completely new design for Model Y. Unless the scarcity of realism glimpses, the reflection of the designer’s capabilities and imagination are attracting attention with the bold design, unseen in Tesla’s electric car models so far.

Protruding Bonnet Parting Line Horizontally Extended Front Lamp

The front end of the Model Y has undergone a significant redesign, making it almost unrecognizable compared to earlier models. Previously, a smooth curved line was applied to the front for the air drag coefficient, but the newly revealed Model Y has a more angular appearance. In particular, the bonnet’s parting line protruded forward, and the line flowing like a wave from the side added more design detail.

The lamp on the front, partially obscured by the parting line, extends horizontally. Tesla’s lettering is attached above the lamp. The bonnet line and some front shapes give a vibe similar to the Aston Martin DB12. The bumper design underwent a sporty transformation. The front lip has a line that digs inside once, and the angular air intake shape and the fine wire mesh grill shape are located on the front.

Sharp Tail Lamp Design, Added a Ducktail Spoiler

At the rear, changes similar to those in the new Model 3 are noticeable. The tail lamp, which extends to the rear quarter panel, has been sharpened at the end, giving it a blade-like shape. However, Tesla applied a thin, straight shape, not the channel-shaped steel, which was its original design. In addition, a ducktail spoiler with a sharp line was added, adding a high-performance sentiment.
