The surprising current status of Hong Kong actor Tony Leung Chiu-Wai, who was once renowned for his youthful looks, has been revealed to fans.

China Daily released recent photos and reported that Tony Leung is filming a movie, Silent Friend, in Germany.

Unlike his usual style, Leung is seen wearing a short, natural hairstyle, minimal makeup, and a navy padded jacket. The photos revealed more visible wrinkles around his eyes and mouth.

A fan who took a picture with Leung said, “I happened to meet Tony Leung at a botanical garden. He was filming a movie.” He also revealed, “I asked to take a picture after waiting for about an hour. He was very kind.”

As soon as Leung’s photos were released on an online community, they captured the attention of viewers. Reactions included, “He doesn’t look like Tony Leung,” “I’m curious about the movie,” “Even Tony Leung can’t avoid the passage of time,” “He looks older with his shaved head,” “It’s natural aging,” and “I hope there are no health problems.”

Tony Leung made a name for himself as a representative star of Hong Kong by appearing in movies such as Chungking Express, In the Mood for Love, Days of Being Wild, and Happy Together in the 1990s.

After dating for 19 years, Tony Leung married actress and singer Carina Lau in 2008.

Leung recently boasted his enduring influence by winning the Best Actor award at the Hong Kong Film Awards. He has now won the Best Actor award six times at the film festival.
