Tackling a cultural taboo and going braless are the latest trends among South Korean stars. On July 15, former After School member and actress Nana posted several photos in her braless outfit without any caption. Known to maintain long hair, she surprised fans with a new look, sporting a bob with a grey tank top and denim shorts—her doll-like appearance in the casual photos she posted captivated fans who reminisced about her girl group days.

Singer Hwasa also drew attention for her braless outfit. After finishing SBS’s Super Concert in Hong Kong, she arrived at Incheon Airport, greeting her fans with a smile in her simple outfit, mask, and no makeup. Her outfit went viral when it was revealed that she was braless under her white t-shirt, and it became a controversial topic across the entertainment industry as it wasn’t common for female celebrities to appear in public without a bra. As the search term “Hwasa braless fashion” continued to trend, some viewers online raised suspicions that she was braless in support of No Bra Day on July 9.

Shin Jimin, the former member of the girl group AOA, sparked a wave of excitement among her fans with her braless look in her most recent post.

With the caption “Vegetarians welcome,” she posted a photo of herself wearing a tank top without a bra and a cap, and many fans took note of her sleeve of tattoos.

Shin Jimin withdrew from AOA and suspended her entertainment career in 2020 but recently returned with her new song “WALKING TALKING.”

The late Sulli was also a representative star known to support going braless, sharing that the bra was just an accessory on her appearance on a TV show called “The Night of Hate Comments.”

“If it fits, I. wear it. If it doesn’t, I don’t,” she stated.

Despite the hate she received from her braless stance, Sulli stood her ground and explained, “The reason I go without a bra is simply because I feel comfortable.”

The debate on the appropriateness of going braless continues to spark discussions among fans online.

Many have voiced their support for Sulli’s confidence, sharing their experiences of how a bra can sometimes suffocate.

“It’s good to see their confident appearance. Perception of braless outfits should change,” they continued.
