Several U.S. media outlets, including the LA Times and CNN, reported on the 28th (local time) that Matthew Perry was found dead at his home in Los Angeles, California.

According to the reports, the Los Angeles Police Department responded to a call about a heart attack patient around 4 pm.

Matthew Perry was reportedly found unconscious in his home’s jacuzzi bathtub. Local media reported, “It’s clear that it was a drowning accident, and there’s no suspicion of crime.”

Born in 1969, Matthew Perry rose to stardom by playing the role of Chandler Bing in the sitcom *Friends*, which NBC began airing in 1994. He also starred in several other works, including the dramas *Studio 60*, *Go On*, *Odd Couple*, and the films *The Whole Nine Yards*, *17 Again*.

He began taking painkillers after a jet ski accident in 1997.

He suffered from drug addiction for 30 years, and in his memoir published last year, he confessed about the difficult times he had due to drug and alcohol addiction.

Upon the sudden news, netizens mourned his passing with comments such as “Rest in peace,” “I can’t believe it,” “Chandler is dead…,” “Rest in peace, eternal friend…”
