On Tuesday, Special Prosecutor Min Joong-ki’s team, investigating various allegations involving former First Lady Kim Keon Hee, raided the office of a controversial shaman linked to her alleged acceptance of luxury gifts from a religious group three years ago.
Prosecutors and investigators were dispatched to the office of shaman Jeon Seong-bae, also known as Geon Jin, in Yeoksam-dong, southern Seoul. Their mission was to secure documents and computer files related to his suspected delivery of gifts to Kim.
Jeon is believed to have received a diamond necklace and a high-end handbag from a senior Unification Church official between April and August 2022. This occurred shortly after Yoon Suk Yeol’s presidential election victory in March of the same year. Jeon allegedly then passed these gifts on to Kim.
Reports suggest that the church official sought business favors from the Yoon administration in exchange for the alleged gifts. Jeon has claimed that while he did receive the gifts, he subsequently lost them all. (Yonhap)
