Controversy has erupted as a video showing an Israeli military vehicle running over a body believed to be a Hamas member has been circulated online.

In the 1 minute and 10 seconds video posted on the social media ‘X’ on the 9th (local time), a man who appears to be dead is lying on a road in Tul Karm on the west bank of the Jordan River.

The Israeli military vehicle which approached slowly with its headlights on briefly stopped before running over the body with its right front wheel.

The body caught under the tire of the vehicle which did not slow down, was dragged for several meters before being run over by the rear wheel as well.

After the video was disseminated, criticism poured out on social media accusing the vehicle of abusing the already dead body.

In response to an AFP query, an Israeli military official stated, “The operational vehicle in the video was dispatched to rescue friendly forces engulfed in gunfire,” adding, “It inadvertently ran over the body of the terrorist.”

He further explained that “the entire situation is not captured in the video,” and they plan to investigate the incident.
