LE SSERAFIM Takes Legal Action: U.S. Court Approves Request to Unmask Cyberbullies

LE SSERAFIM is stepping up its legal efforts against cyber harassment.

LE SSERAFIM has recently secured approval from a U.S. court to obtain the personal details of those responsible for cyber harassment. SOURCE MUSIC, the agency representing the group, stated, “The U.S. federal court has granted our request for personal information related to online channels spreading false and malicious content about LE SSERAFIM.”

Earlier this year, in June, HYBE, which acquired SOURCE MUSIC, had a similar request dismissed by the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. Judge Vince Chhabria ruled that law enforcement agencies rather than victims should submit requests for information related to criminal investigations. He also noted no evidence of action from South Korean authorities regarding HYBE’s complaint.

In response, SOURCE MUSIC filed a new request on July 30 with the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, seeking the identities of two online channel operators who have disseminated defamatory statements about LE SSERAFIM members. The court has accepted this request, and SOURCE MUSIC is expected to review the information before proceeding with a civil lawsuit in South Korea. According to court documents, the U.S. court’s approval was granted under the condition that the data be used in a civil case, not a criminal one.

The channels in question, “Short chajang” and “Issuefeed,” are notorious for posting videos containing false information about various celebrities, including members of LE SSERAFIM. These channels have been implicated in spreading rumors and negative comments.

Meanwhile, LE SSERAFIM is preparing to release their fourth mini album, CRAZY, on August 30 at 1 PM.

The title track, “CRAZY,” is an EDM-based house song featuring a catchy beat and repetitive lyrics designed to be highly addictive. Additionally, the album includes a track called “Pierrot,” which samples the song “Pierrot laughs at us” by Korean veteran artist Kim Wan Sun. Another track, “Why I Can’t Go Crazy,” features Huh Yunjin in her debut role as the leading producer.
