Hyundai Rolls Out 63 Eco-Friendly Vehicles for APEC Meetings in Busan

Hyundai Motor will deploy a fleet of 63 zero-emission vehicles for next month’s Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) ministerial meetings in Busan, serving as the official transportation provider, the South Korean automaker announced Tuesday.

According to Hyundai Motor, the fleet will include 34 all-new Hyundai Nexo hydrogen fuel cell SUVs, 12 Genesis Electrified G80 luxury sedans, 14 all-electric Kia EV9 SUVs, and three Hyundai Universe hydrogen buses.

These eco-friendly vehicles are set to transport VIPs and support various activities during the 15th APEC Energy Ministerial Meeting, the 16th APEC Clean Energy Ministerial Meeting, and the 10th APEC Mission Innovation Ministerial Meeting.

Scheduled for August 27-28, the 15th APEC Energy Ministerial Meeting will bring together top energy officials from 21 economies to address pressing issues such as power grid infrastructure, energy security and stability, electricity supply, and AI-driven energy innovation.

Co-hosted from August 25-27 at the Bexco Convention Center, the 16th APEC Clean Energy Ministerial Meeting and the 10th APEC Mission Innovation Ministerial Meeting will convene representatives from around 30 APEC member economies. Discussions will focus on the transition to clean power, hydrogen and alternative fuels, AI-powered energy solutions, and carbon reduction technologies.

Energy ministers and government delegations from over 40 countries are expected to participate in these three APEC events.

By providing a fleet of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and electric vehicles, Hyundai Motor aims to showcase the capabilities of its electrified models and highlight its commitment to a sustainable future.

The all-new Nexo, serving as the primary official vehicle, exemplifies Hyundai’s leadership in hydrogen technology and its vision for green mobility. With an impressive 720-kilometer driving range per charge, it underscores the automaker’s commitment to advancing hydrogen-powered vehicles—a commitment that Hyundai intends to highlight throughout the APEC meetings.
