Former CEO of Omega X’s Agency Denies Sexual Misconduct Allegations

Following claims of inappropriate behavior by their former agency’s CEO, Omega X, provided an update on their legal case.

Spire Entertainment’s former CEO, Kang, is scheduled to hold a press conference regarding the sexual harassment allegations.

At a press conference held in Seoul on March 19, Spire Entertainment claimed that former CEO Kang was the victim, not the perpetrator, of the sexual harassment case. They plan to release more details to clarify the situation.

Spire Entertainment claims that despite being the alleged victim, former CEO Kang hesitated to press criminal charges or go public. They reason that such actions could have portrayed the Omega X members as the aggressors. However, due to mounting speculation that painted Kang negatively, Spire has decided to release CCTV footage and hold a press conference to clarify the situation.

Spire Entertainment has outlined the agenda for the press conference. It will begin with opening remarks by CEO Hwang Sung Woo, proceed with the release of CCTV footage, and finally allow time for questions from the press.

Omega X’s current agency, IPQ, countered by stating they filed a formal complaint against former CEO Kang on October 22, 2022, alleging an assault on member Jaehan in a Los Angeles hotel lobby. After a lengthy investigation, authorities acknowledged the assault on March 12, 2024, leading to an indictment against Kang.

IPQ further clarified that the initial complaint regarding business obstruction was withdrawn. This decision stemmed from an agreement on the core lawsuit – the termination of Omega X’s exclusive contract with Spire. As a result, the business obstruction charge was not pursued. However, IPQ emphasizes that separate investigations are ongoing against former CEO Kang for sexual harassment based on allegations of abuse of power during her time at the company and defamation due to the spread of potentially false information.

IPQ emphasized that a court decision in January 2023 legally terminated Spire’s exclusive contract with Omega X. This decision was based on evidence of assault and verbal abuse against the group. They further accused Spire of “continuous false fact dissemination,” claiming Spire continues to disrupt the members’ activities by spreading misinformation despite evidence of forced drinking and threats that emerged during the legal proceedings.

IPQ warned that spreading or reporting unverified information about the situation is a “secondary offense” against Omega X. They stressed that the group is diligently working to demonstrate the harm they’ve experienced. The agency emphasized its commitment to cooperating with the legal investigation based on “clear facts and concrete evidence.” They added that they possessed materials to counter distorted narratives and intended to release them later.

In 2022, a video emerged showing former CEO Kang’s alleged verbal and physical abuse towards Omega X, sparking public outrage. While Spire initially dismissed it as a misunderstanding, the members countered by revealing a history of “unfair treatment” from the agency.

Facing these allegations, former CEO Kang resigned. Subsequently, Omega X successfully sued Spire to suspend their exclusive contract. Currently, they are signed to IPQ and actively pursuing their careers.
