DJ Soda Sexual Harassment Incident
Parodied in Japanese Adult Film
Sales Stopped After Controversy
A well-known adult film company in Japan has been criticized locally for announcing the release of an adult video (AV) that reminds viewers of the sexual harassment incident involving DJ Soda.
Several Japanese media outlets reported on March 19 that Soft On Demand (SOD), a major AV company in Japan, posted a video on March 5 featuring a “blonde DJ who went viral in the summer of 2023.”
The video features a scene where a blonde female DJ is sexually harassed, and some have speculated that the video was made with DJ Soda in mind.
Viewers criticized the video, stating, “It references DJ Soda,” “What was SOD thinking?” and “This is a blatant act of harassment against someone who is already suffering.”
Japanese women’s weekly magazine Josei Jishin reported, “There are concerns about secondary victimization of DJ Soda.”
As the controversy grew, SOD decided to stop the release of the video.
Through their official social media account, SOD announced, “We decided to halt the release of this video due to various circumstances. To those looking forward to this video, we apologize for any inconvenience caused.”
The video has been removed from the official website but was known to have been sold digitally for a couple of days.
DJ Soda revealed that she was sexually harassed at the Music Circus Festival in Osaka last August.
DJ Soda stated, “(When I got close to the audience) several people suddenly touched my chest, and I was sexually harassed without any defense,” and said, “I am still scared.”
The event company Try Hard Japan filed a complaint against two men and one woman for sexual harassment, but DJ Soda forgave the perpetrators after receiving an apology.
