Thai Pop Idol RedSpin’s Pearpunch
Alerts for Help After Deepfake Attack
Threatened with Fake Nudes
A well-known Thai idol filed a police report after threats involving nude photos were sent their way.
RedSpin member Pearpunch, from WYNN Entertainment, has spoken out after being targeted by a disturbing deepfake attack.
Pearpunch recently came forward about a disturbing deepfake incident. A manipulated image was created, placing her face on an unidentified nude body.
“I was targeted on Instagram with a threatening message,” Pearpunch disclosed. “The message included a disturbingly altered photo that misused my image.”
The frighteningly realistic nature of the manipulated photo had the potential to be misconstrued as accurate. This severe incident prompted Pearpunch to file a police report on March 25.
Pearpunch and representatives from her agency filed a police report with Lieutenant Colonel Natthaya Wongrujipairot of the Royal Thai Police’s 3rd Investigation Division on the same day.
“We came to gather and submit information and evidence,” Pearpunch explained, adding, “Regardless of who it is, whether they work in the entertainment industry or not, no one should have to go through such an experience.”
“We strongly condemn this reprehensible act and will take all necessary legal actions to protect our artist,” a representative from WYNN Entertainment declared. “This is a serious issue that should not be tolerated. We stand with Pearpunch and all victims of online harassment and believe it’s time for decisive action to ensure their safety.”
He added, “We will keep you updated on the progress and ensure that we comply with the law to the fullest extent.”
