Actress Fan Bingbing, whose career in China has been on hold due to a tax evasion controversy, recently gave fans a glimpse into her life through facing negative scrutiny.
On April 12, Fan Bingbing shared several photos on social media. She was seen striking various poses in traditional Thai attire, with one picture capturing viewers’ attention. In the photo, Fan Bingbing is seen sitting in a regular car, placing her hand on her chest and greeting the local people around her.
Viewers who saw the photo pointed out that the car she was in was too simple and did not match her luxurious attire. Additionally, there were questions about her stature, as the event she attended seemed like a local festival. Some even noted that her former glamorous image seemed to have faded.
Fan Bingbing was reported to have attended a commemorative event for Thailand’s Songkran Festival, which took place from April 13-15. Along with the photos, she expressed her fondness for Thailand with captions such as “Sawadikap! Thai coconuts are delicious” and “Hello Thailand! Sending warm wishes for a fun Songkran Festival”.
In 2018, it was revealed that Fan Bingbing had evaded taxes by falsifying her income through dual contracts. The amount was a whopping 255 million yuan (approximately $39 million), which received a lot of backlash from fans. It was reported that Fan Bingbing was fined nearly $1.7 billion.
Since then, she has been banned from activities in China and has appeared in films in Korea, Hong Kong, and the United States over the past few years.
