Behind the Scenes Fiasco: Director Furious at Cecilia Cheung’s Careless Attitude

Hong Kong director Lee Dong Seung has exposed the rude behavior of top star Cecilia Cheung on set.

On the 21st (local time), veteran director Lee Dong Seung appeared on the ViuTV program Director·Door2, hosted by Jin Young Gyeom and No Jin Up.

Lee Dong Seung shared an absurd story from his time working with Cecilia Cheung. He voiced frustration over Cecilia Cheung’s calm demeanor on set and constant interruptions due to phone calls, which disrupted the shooting process.

At times, it was utterly absurd. For instance, he recalled when Cheung asked for help to call a tow truck because “her younger brother’s car had a flat tire.”

However, Lee Dong-seung didn’t just criticize Cecilia Cheung. He praised her acting skills. He shared, “(Cecilia Cheung) is very talented in acting. She immerses herself easily into the role.” He continued, “There was a scene in the movie where Cecilia Cheung had no money to buy vegetables. I told her, ‘Don’t sleep. You have to look very worn tomorrow.’ Cecilia Cheung said, ‘I’m going to party all night.’ Not only did she pull off the scene, but she also finished shooting very quickly, almost one take per scene,” he recalled.

However, Lee Dong Seung didn’t just criticize Cecilia Cheung; he also commended her acting skills. He remarked, “(Cecilia Cheung) possesses remarkable talent in acting. She effortlessly immerses herself in her roles.” He elaborated, “In one scene of the film where Cecilia Cheung’s character couldn’t afford vegetables, I advised her, ‘Don’t sleep. You need to look worn out tomorrow.’ Despite her response, ‘I’m going to party all night,’ she executed the scene flawlessly and completed each shot swiftly, often in just one take.”

Meanwhile, Cecilia Cheung married Sa Jong Bong in 2006 and divorced in 2011. She raises her two sons, Lucas and Quintus, on her own.

As an Australian national, Cecilia Cheung spent most of her student days in Melbourne, Australia. She later returned to Hong Kong and actively pursued her entertainment career, becoming a beloved figure among the public.

She has starred in movies such as Failan, The Promise, Repeat I Love You, and Shaolin Soccer, giving outstanding performances.
