2NE1’s Comeback Concert Sells Out in Minutes, Fans Left Frustrated!

TV Report Views

As ticket sales began for 2NE1’s 15th-anniversary concert, fans voiced their frustrations.

According to YG Entertainment, the 2024 2NE1 CONCERT [WELCOME BACK] IN SEOUL sold out on October 5 and 6 immediately after tickets were opened for sale. During this time, 400,000 people attempted to access the ticketing site simultaneously.

Fans are now expressing dissatisfaction, claiming that the organizers failed to understand the situation.

This concert was open for ticket purchases to the general public without any special pre-sale for fan club members. Additionally, each buyer could purchase up to four tickets, and the option to pay via bank transfer was available, setting high expectations for attendance.

However, the Olympic Hall, the venue for 2NE1’s performance, has a limited capacity of only 3,000 to 4,000 spectators, which significantly intensifies the competition for tickets.

2NE1’s last concert before disbanding in 2014 took place at the SK Handball Stadium in Olympic Park, which can accommodate around 14,000 people.

Given that this marks their 15th anniversary and their first full-group activity in eight years since disbanding, there’s a growing demand for a larger venue and additional performances.

Even the members of 2NE1 encountered difficulties securing tickets. In a video shared by CL, they expressed comments such as, “There can’t be any remaining seats,” “Why can’t we book tickets?” and “Is the computer malfunctioning?” Sandara Park also shared her surprise on her personal account, posting, “I’m waiting too,” followed by, “Why isn’t it working?”

Meanwhile, there is a reason behind 2NE1’s choice of venue. South Korea faces a shortage of performance spaces, and booking is announced a year in advance. However, following a meeting between 2NE1 and YG producer Yang Hyun Suk, their full-group comeback project was rushed, and securing the Olympic Hall for the event was a close call.

YG Entertainment previously stated, “This year marks a monumental 15th anniversary for their debut, and with the dramatic reunion of 2NE1, we strongly desired to start their performances within this year.” They also mentioned that concerts are confirmed for Kobe, Japan, at the World Hall in late November and at Tokyo’s Ariake Arena in early December. Besides, the members strongly desired to start with a performance in South Korea.
