Girls’ Generation stars Sooyoung and Hyoyeon recently put to rest rumors about their rumored discord by showcasing their close friendship.
In a recent video on Hyoyeon’s YouTube channel, “Hyo’s Level Up,” titled “Girls’ Generation’s Hyoyeon and Sooyoung’s Tiki-taka Show,” Sooyoung appeared as the tenth guest on the segment “Bapsahyo.”
During the episode, Hyoyeon playfully addressed a recent trip taken by Sooyoung, Yuri, and Tiffany, jokingly asking why she wasn’t invited. “I wanted to go too, but I guess they didn’t invite me on purpose,” she quipped. Sooyoung quickly clarified, “We always ask her,” noting that Hyoyeon wasn’t in Korea then. Hyoyeon admitted, “I always forget they ask and wonder why I wasn’t invited.”
The discussion continued as Hyoyeon brought up a recent gathering for Yoona’s birthday, suggesting it would have been a good time for all members to meet. Sooyoung responded, “This time, we didn’t ask.”
Hyoyeon asked in mock disbelief, “Why didn’t you invite me then?” Sooyoung explained, “The four of us met for my birthday before. Coordinating schedules for all eight of us takes time, so we ate with the four of us and decided to meet again another time.”
Hyoyeon questioned why there were only four of them, to which Sooyoung clarified, “We had all discussed it before it ended up being just the four of us. We met when it was convenient.” Hyoyeon humorously noted, “With so many members, it’s bound to split us up,” turning the rumors into a light-hearted joke.
Hyoyeon admitted that her busy schedule often interferes with her plans, but Sooyoung reminded her of a past trip to Jeju. “Two years ago, when I asked you to join me and Tiffany, you said you couldn’t come,” Sooyoung said. She added, “If you’re free, come with us. I’d be upset if you spent time with others instead, but I’m not disappointed if that’s not the case.” Sooyoung then asked if Hyoyeon had been meeting up with other friends, leading Hyoyeon to joke, “I’m a bit drained right now,” which made them both laugh.
Hyoyeon also mentioned that she often has meals with Seohyun, prompting Sooyoung to question why Hyoyeon doesn’t reach out when she doesn’t initiate meetups. “I make an effort a few times,” Sooyoung said, adding, “Why haven’t you ever contacted me while eating with Seohyun? It feels a bit like a double standard.” Her comments elicited laughter as she emphasized, “Our relationship is really good.”
