Taeil, a former member of NCT, has disappeared from the public eye just one week after leaving the group amid allegations of sexual misconduct.
As of September 5, Taeil’s personal social media account has been set to private, and all videos on his YouTube channel, “Taeil’s Room,” have been removed.
He has not issued a public apology, and despite a week having passed since the allegations surfaced, Taeil has remained silent.
On August 28, SM Entertainment confirmed that Taeil faced criminal charges related to sexual misconduct and stated that, after discussions, they decided to expel him from the group. They added that Taeil is currently cooperating fully with the police investigation, and the agency will provide further updates as the investigation progresses.
The revelation of Taeil’s alleged misconduct shocked many fans. As a result, his social media following has dwindled significantly. Since September 5, his follower count has dropped from 6 million to 4.93 million, with many fans choosing to unfollow him.
The specifics of the allegations remain unclear. There were suspicions that he may have committed sexual offenses against a male minor, but police investigations denied these claims. The Seoul Bangbae Police Station reported receiving a complaint from the alleged victim in June and is currently investigating Taeil. Both Taeil and SM Entertainment reportedly became aware of the allegations around mid-August.
In response to the situation, NCT members have unfollowed Taeil on social media, signaling a clear break.
Haechan, another NCT member, indirectly addressed the situation on social media on August 31. He shared, “I’ve had a lot on my mind lately, and I want to share a bit of my thoughts with you all. NCT means everything to me. It’s a name that we, as members, must protect,” expressing his deep connection to the group.
