President Yoon’s Approval Ratings Up, People Power Party and Democratic Party Rates Fluctuate

A poll has revealed that the approval rating for President Yoon Suk Yeol’s administration has been on the rise for three consecutive weeks, nearing 40%.

According to a poll conducted by Realmeter for Energy Economic Newspaper from February 13th to 16th, with a sample of 2011 people aged 18 and older (with a margin of error of ±2.2% at a 95% confidence level), the positive rating for President Yoon’s administration was 39.5%, an increase of 0.3% points over the previous survey within the margin of error (conducted from February 5th to 8th).

President Yoon’s approval rating has increased for three consecutive weeks (36.2%→37.3%→39.2%→39.5%). On the other hand, the negative rating for his administration was 57.2%, a decrease of 0.5% points within the margin of error.

The positive rating increased in Daejeon, Sejong, and Chungcheong (up 3.7% points), Daegu and Gyeongbuk (up 1.8% points), and Seoul (up 1.1% points), while it decreased in Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam (down 4.6% points).

By gender, the rating increased among men (up 1.6% points) and decreased among women (down 1.0% points). By age group, it increased among people in their 60s (up 3.3% points) and 50s (up 3.2% points), while it decreased among those aged 70 and older (down 7.2% points). The positive rating increased among the progressive faction (up 3.8% points).

The margin of error for the presidential administration performance evaluation survey is ±2.2% points at a 95% confidence level. The survey was conducted using an automated response system, with 97% wireless and 3% wired responses and a response rate of 3.9%.

In a party support rate survey conducted from February 15th to 16th with a sample of 1009 voters aged 18 and over (with a margin of error of ±3.1% at a 95% confidence level), the People Power Party had a 1.8% point decrease within the margin of error, recording 39.1%. In contrast, the Democratic Party of Korea had a 1.6% point decrease within the margin of error, recording 40.2%.

The support rate for the People Power Party decreased in Incheon and Gyeonggi (down 5.6% points), Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam (down 5.0% points), Daejeon, Sejong, and Chungcheong (down 4.7% points), among men (down 3.3% points), people in their 30s (down 13.0% points), 60s (down 7.2% points), those aged 70 and over (down 3.4% points), and the moderate faction (down 4.6% points). However, it increased in Daegu and Gyeongbuk (up 9.8% points), among people in their 20s (up 2.6% points), 50s (up 5.4% points), the progressive faction (up 2.8% points), and the conservative faction (up 5.2% points).

The Democratic Party’s support rate decreased in Daegu and Gyeongbuk (down 12.7% points), Seoul (down 3.6% points), among women (down 2.6% points), people in their 50s (down 8.6% points), 40s (down 2.1% points), the progressive faction (down 6.6% points), and the conservative faction (down 4.9% points). It increased in Incheon and Gyeonggi (up 1.9% points).

The support rate for the New Reform Party was 6.3%, the Justice Party increased by 0.1% points to 2.3%, and the Progressive Party decreased by 0.5% points to 1.1%. The rate for those without a preferred party increased by 1.3% to 8.8%.

The margin of error for the party support rate survey is ±3.1% points at a 95% confidence level. The survey was conducted using an automated response system, with 97% wireless and 3% wired responses and a response rate of 4.0%.
