Amidst the noise of the fourth-generation girl groups due to Le Sserafim’s skill controversy and ILLIT’s copying NewJeans controversy, BabyMonster is on the substantial rise.

BabyMonster, YG’s new girl group, is receiving favorable reviews from music fans. With solid live performances, the group is gaining long-run popularity in the U.S. Billboard main chart, showing an upward trend for three consecutive weeks.

According to the latest chart announced by Billboard on the 23rd (local time), BabyMonster’s title track, “SHEESH,” from their first mini-album, they were ranked 16th and 33rd on the Billboard Global (Billboard Global Excl. U.S) and Billboard Global 200, respectively.

Even though it has been three weeks since its release, it has set a new record again, following its previous ranks of 23rd and 49th.

The chart ranks based on streaming and music sales, indicating their significant global presence.

BabyMonster’s overwhelming talent, proven through music broadcasts, YouTube, variety shows, and radio, has sparked their popularity. In addition to Billboard, their achievements stand out in various other charts.

The “SHEESH” track is currently charting on Spotify’s global daily and weekly charts for 22 days and two consecutive weeks. It’s also steadily climbing on major domestic music platforms, including entering the TOP 10 on Melon’s HOT100.

The first mini-album [BABYMONS7ER], which includes this song, set a new record for the highest initial sales of a debut album by a K-pop girl group, selling 401,287 copies in just one week. The ‘SHEESH’ music video also broke the record for the fastest debut song by a K-pop girl group to reach 100 million views on YouTube in just ten days.

Building this momentum, Babymonster plans to hold a fan meeting tour in Japan in May, extending to five regions in Asia (Tokyo, Japan; Jakarta, Indonesia; Singapore; Taipei; Bangkok, Thailand).

Moreover, they are expected to perform at Summer Sonic 2024, Japan’s largest music festival, bringing them even closer to their global fans.
