OLYPHANT, Pa. and SEOUL, South Korea, July 22, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Kolmar Korea has completed construction and begun full-scale operations on its second manufacturing facility in the United States, marking a significant milestone in the company’s global expansion strategy. Located in Scott Township, Pennsylvania, this state-of-the-art plant not only bolsters K-beauty’s international presence but also establishes a strategic ‘tariff safe zone’ amid escalating trade tensions.

At the grand opening ceremony on July 16, Yoon Sang Hyun, Vice Chairman of Kolmar Group, articulated the company’s ambitious vision. “Our roots in the U.S. stretch back a century. This new facility is not just about production; it is the cornerstone of a broader strategy. We are building an innovation ecosystem, partnering across the value chain to establish North America’s premier cosmetics manufacturing hub,” Yoon declared.

The event drew a crowd of about 100, including Vice Chairman Yoon, Pennsylvania State Representative Bridget Kosierowski, various state officials, and industry partners.

Spanning 17,805㎡ (191,651 square feet), the new facility boasts an annual production capacity of 120 million units. This addition brings Kolmar USA’s total yearly output to 300 million units. When combined with the company’s Canadian operations, Kolmar Korea now commands a staggering production capacity of 470 million units across North America – unmatched among cosmetics ODMs in the region.

The new plant specializes in skincare and suncare products, two categories experiencing explosive growth in the U.S. market. It complements the color cosmetics focus of Kolmar’s first U.S. facility. Moreover, Kolmar Korea has secured FDA certification with an OTC license for sunscreen production, positioning the company to capitalize on the surging popularity of K-beauty suncare products stateside.

Kolmar Korea has successfully transplanted its cutting-edge ‘MADE BY KOLMAR’ manufacturing techniques – perfected at its acclaimed Sejong Plant in Korea and recognized by over 4,300 global customers – to this new U.S. facility. The factory mirrors Sejong’s exacting standards, featuring dedicated zones for manufacturing, filling, and packaging. State-of-the-art AI-driven quality control and process optimization minimize defects, while 80% of production runs on full automation. Even the logistics and worker flow patterns are modeled after the Sejong plant, maximizing both efficiency and safety.

This second U.S. factory is expected to serve as a crucial bulwark against tariffs on imported cosmetics, offering a robust domestic production option for Korean and global brands eyeing the lucrative U.S. market.

A Kolmar Korea spokesperson highlighted the historic nature of this development: “We are the first Korean cosmetics firm to build a U.S. production facility from scratch rather than acquiring an existing one. This uniquely positions us to support K-beauty brands entering the U.S. market tariff-free, as well as global clients targeting North American, European, and South American consumers. Our collaborative ecosystem is primed for rapid growth.”
