According to Japanese media outlets such as ANN (Asia News Network), a man in his 50s visiting the Amanohashidate observation deck in Miyazu city, Kyoto, one of the three scenic spots of Japan, fell off a cliff on the 15th after losing his balance due to a coworker’s prank.

The man had climbed onto the observation deck and assumed a position to look between his legs when a coworker jokingly pushed his buttocks. The man lost his balance and fell approximately 15 meters down the slope of the cliff.

It is reported that the man fell over a fall-prevention fence installed by the operating company below the observation deck.

The victim was transported to the hospital immediately after the accident and is currently hospitalized with injuries to his chest and face.

The operating company stated that there have been no fall accidents in recent decades.

The police are investigating the details of the incident with the victim’s coworkers.

Amanohashidate is famous for its magnificent view of the beautiful sea and about 6700 pine trees lined up. If you bend over and look at Amanohashidate through your legs, you can see a landscape similar to the shape of a “dragon” rising to the sky, which makes it even more popular.

Following this incident, the operating company has enlarged the existing caution sign that reads, “Please hold onto the rail when looking through your legs.”
