A university student in Canada has reportedly taken to commuting to and from school by plane every week as he finds the rent near his school too expensive.

According to a recent New York Post (NYT) report, a male student attending the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, has decided to commute by plane weekly to save on high rent costs.

The student reportedly spends approximately $890 per month on plane tickets, which is more affordable than the monthly rent of $1,550 he was facing.

This decision came after he returned from his fall break last year only to find that his landlord had raised the rent from $1,550 to $2,500, prompting him to seek alternative solutions.

As a result, the student attends school twice a week, commuting by plane.

Since the cost of commuting by plane is only about $890 per month, the student announced that he would continue this method of commuting until he graduates.

The University of British Columbia, established in 1908, is the oldest university in the province of British Columbia, Canada, and is a research-focused public university.

As of 2022, the University of British Columbia has included 8 Nobel laureates among its alums and faculty and ranks among the top three universities in Canada.
