A 23-year-old woman and an 80-year-old man are seen to be enjoying their married life, and she claims to have found true love.
Their remarkable love story was recently shared on the Chinese website Sohu.
While volunteering at a nursing home in Heibei Province, a woman called Xiao Fang (a pseudonym) fell in love with an 80-year-old resident named Li (also a pseudonym).
Though the two are 57 years apart, they grew close through shared interests and hobbies and soon were dating.
Li valued Xiao Fang’s youthfulness and vibrant energy, while she was drawn to his wisdom and maturity.
Claiming to have found true love while dating Li, Xiao Fang sought her parents’ approval for marriage.
Unsurprisingly, her parents disapproved of the marriage and believed Li was taking advantage of Xiao Fang.
Despite the disapproval, she cut ties with her family and held a simple, warm wedding ceremony in a small village. The couple promised to love each other “in sickness and health, poverty and wealth, forever.”
After their wedding, the couple enjoyed a blissful married life, walking, talking, and doing household chores together. However, Li’s health began to deteriorate.
Li was not only old and frail but also impoverished due to his lack of wealth. His pension was his primary source of income.
Because of the reality of their relationship, Xiao Fang is not only Li’s caregiver but also the sole breadwinner, bearing the financial burden.
