An 11-year-old boy’s reaction during a dramatic elevator malfunction has become a major topic of discussion.

Thai media outlet Sanook released the surveillance footage of an elevator crash in Chongqing, China. The footage shows the 11-year-old boy riding in the elevator with an adult man.

When the man exited on the 9th floor, and the doors closed, the elevator malfunctioned, plummeting from the 9th floor to the basement.

When the elevator stopped, the boy initially appeared startled but quickly pressed the emergency call button to alert security.

He then took decisive action, pressing all the buttons from the 1st floor to the top. This action may have helped slow the elevator’s descent or even stop it mid-fall. Besides, he lowered his center of gravity and crouched partially while holding onto the railing to reduce potential injuries in case of a fall.

The boy escaped the elevator safely thanks to his quick thinking and calm demeanor. After getting out, he was seen warning others waiting to use the elevator about the malfunction.

The boy’s mother later reported that he was visibly shaken and crying heavily when he arrived home. Despite this, she expressed immense pride in her son’s composure and bravery during the emergency.
