Online media outlet Sanook reported that a woman from Shanghai discovered a photo of a child online who looked exactly like her 4-year-old daughter and demanded a DNA test from the parents who uploaded the photo.
The photo that the woman found was posted by someone online seeking the parents of a lost child at a subway station in Shanghai.
The striking resemblance led the woman to suspect that the extra embryos she froze at the hospital during her IVF in 2020 were leaked.
Complicating the situation even further, the woman and her acquaintances also noticed similarities. In a heated social media post sharing photos of the two children side by side, she demanded a DNA test from the parents of the child that looked like hers.
The parents replied that they gave birth to their daughter naturally, stating she was only 2 years old, and requested the removal of the photos and videos shared online.
They also submitted their daughter’s birth-related medical records to the police, and the woman has since deleted her posts.
In response, the woman apologized, saying, “I unintentionally hurt them due to my maternal instincts.” Many people online criticized her for her reckless behavior.
