Sanook recently highlighted advice from Dr. Brian Steixner of the Institute for Men’s Health at the Jersey Urology Group, published by LADBible, on why men should avoid wearing undergarments to bed.
Steixner cautioned that sleeping in underwear can reduce fertility by raising the temperature around the testicles, impairing blood flow, and weakening sperm quality. He emphasized that maintaining the proper temperature in the genital area is essential for healthy sperm production.
Steixner also pointed out that wearing underwear near cuts or skin irritations could promote bacterial growth and raise the risk of infection.
Sleeping without underwear can also help regulate temperature. According to the Sleep Foundation, sleeping naked can enhance health, improve intimacy between couples, boost self-esteem, and help cool the body more quickly, contributing to a better night’s sleep.
Sleep expert Dr. David Rosen further explained that cooling down at night is a simple way to improve sleep quality.
