Son Heung-min’s Finger Injury Caused by Teammate Argument, Claims The Sun

A shocking claim has been made by a British media outlet that a fight with a Korean national team player was the reason for Son Heung-min’s (Tottenham Hotspur) finger injury.

The British newspaper The Sun reported on the 14th (Korean time) that “a fight broke out at a dinner party before Korea’s semifinal match against Jordan.”

The outlet reported that Son Heung-min injured his finger during this incident.

Previously, Son Heung-min had drawn attention for appearing with a bandaged finger in the Jordan match on the 7th and the English Premier League (EPL) Brighton match on the 11th.

The outlet, quoting a source, stated, “Some of the team’s younger members finished dinner early to play ping pong. However, team captain Son Heung-min was not pleased with them leaving the dinner early since it was a team-building opportunity.”

It continued, “Among the younger players that Son Heung-min had a problem with was Lee Kang-in (Paris Saint-Germain). Afterward, a quarrel broke out, and Son Heung-min suffered a finger dislocation.”

In other words, there was a quarrel the day before the match due to discord between team captain Son Heung-min, who wanted team unity, and young Korean players who did not comply. During this, Son Heung-min injured his finger and appeared in the Jordan match with his finger taped.

This is not the national team’s first involvement in a discord issue.

Previously, Yonhap News reported an unpleasant incident among the national team players, pointing out the problem with Klinsmann’s team, which was eliminated from the Asian Cup.

The outlet reported, “During training for the Asian Cup tournament, a collision occurred between a foreign-based forward A and a domestic-based defender B.”

It also stated, “During the preparation for the Asian Cup tournament, a scene was captured where a foreign-based forward was upset with a domestic-based defender who was aggressively tackling him during training and kicked back in frustration.”

Meanwhile, Son Heung-min, who returned to his club immediately after the Asian Cup, set foot on the ground as a substitute in the 24th round of the EPL Brighton match.

Son Heung-min assisted in Brennan Johnson’s winning goal in the match, leading his team to a 2-1 victory. With the three points earned, Tottenham moved to fourth place in the league.
