An electric SUV from Range Rover, a traditional luxury SUV brand, has been captured in a driving test, attracting attention. In the spy shot, a Range Rover vehicle is seen driving on a snowy road wearing camouflage, and the Range Rover SUV leaked for the first time is presumed to be an electric drive model.

In terms of appearance, the low body focuses on highway and city driving performance rather than off-road driving. Many people looked at the vehicle’s size, low body, and front, predicting it would be the EV model of Range Rover’s Velar.

Detailed specifications have not been revealed
It seems to have a similar performance to the internal combustion engine

One of the visible features is that the longer body may be hiding the third row of seats. Jaguar Land Rover has announced that it will introduce six electric models by 2026, and this model will be one of them.

Jaguar Land Rover’s electric vehicles developed based on the EMA platform have a battery-centric 800V architecture, showing fast charging and high-efficiency battery performance. They were reported to have performance that can compete with Porsche’s electric vehicle models, with ultra-fast charging of up to 350 kW.

Competing with Porsche Macan
Will the brand be revived by electrifying Range Rover?

Considering the Range Rover Velar’s position as a flagship SUV, it is highly likely to be released with similar specifications. As the representative luxury SUV brand is Range Rover, competition with the soon-to-be-launched Porsche Macan EV is inevitable.

Since Porsche also focuses its technology on electrifying most models, some say the competition between the Macan EV and Range Rover Velar EV could be the starting point for luxury SUV electric models.

Notorious as the brand with many breakdowns in South Korea
Can it Create a New Image?

In the case of the Range Rover, it has been considered a vehicle that many people in South Korea avoid because it has a lot of minor breakdowns and has difficulty in after-sales service. However, not many people can deny the performance and history of the Range Rover. For that reason, it is a brand that has always been at the center of competition among luxury SUV models, and it is noteworthy that the unveiling of this electric vehicle model may be able to remove some of the misunderstandings among South Korean consumers.

Range Rover Velar’s EV model is expected to be launched in 2025. It is expected to be launched along with Range Rover’s other representative off-road SUV, Defender’s EV model. However, the specific launch schedule and price in South Korea have not yet been revealed.
