Nissan is preparing a full-change model for its mid-size SUV Murano. Spy shots of the new Murano prototype have been captured since September 2023, revealing the shape of some designs, such as lamps and grills. As the development of the full-change model progresses, significant changes to the previously rugged exterior design are expected.

The existing third-generation model has a trapezoidal grille and a V-shaped chrome garnish. The new Murano has a more updated design, including thin horizontal daytime running lights stacked on each other and a square grille.

Application of a dense pattern grill and horizontal daytime running lights

A rendering of the new Murano produced by Russian media Kolesa.ru based on the prototype was also unveiled. In particular, South Korean consumers respond that it resembles Hyundai’s Tucson. Let’s take a closer look.

At the front, horizontally extending daytime running lights are stacked next to the grille. The appearance of the daytime running lights, which are spaced closer to the bottom like wings, is remarkably similar to the early 4th generation Tucson. Next, if the grill is in contact with the daytime running lights, it features a square shape. However, in the case of the Tucson, the grille pattern is made up of a bold rectangle, whereas in the case of the Murano, the thin horizontal lines are closely connected. The design of the grille and daytime running lights, which significantly affect the impression of the front, is similar to that of the Tucson, which seems to have caused controversy among consumers.

There are also differentiated design elements

Of course, there are also differentiated design elements. The headlamp is located at the top and has a design that extends sharply toward the side. The horizontal thin headlamp design creates a sense of unity with the design of the daytime running lights. On the lower side, a vertically emphasized air intake is located along the line of the daytime running lights. The bumper design reflects the appearance of the current Murano.

The front bumper grill has a detailed trapezoidal design. The curved line on the side of the bumper is also reminiscent of the current Murano. However, unlike the current Murano, which uses chrome garnish, black high-gloss is applied to the bumper, creating a neater design.

For the rear part, horizontal tail lamps are applied. The design has been highlighted by adding volume along the line of the tail lamp. The tail lamps connecting the tailgates gradually become larger in area as they go to the sides. In addition, the ends of the tail lamps are sharpened to create a similar tone to the front design. In the case of the side part, chrome garnish is applied along the roof line.
