What Will the Final Design Look Like?
Renderings of the fully redesigned Hyundai Palisade have recently surfaced. The Palisade, Hyundai’s large SUV, has sparked debate over whether it is a successor to the Veracruz or the Maxcruz. However, Hyundai confirmed in its 2018 internal new model launch schedule that the Palisade is intended to replace the Maxcruz.
Initially launched at a price comparable to the mid-size SUV Santa Fe, the Palisade has been praised for its cost-effectiveness. Despite being a large SUV, it is now gearing up for a major redesign. Numerous sightings of test vehicles have built anticipation, and the Russian automotive media outlet Kolesa has generated significant buzz by unveiling the final rendering of the redesigned Palisade.
Angular design than the existing model
Similar in feel to the Santa Fe
The redesigned Hyundai Palisade sports a more angular exterior compared to its predecessor. It resembles Santa Fe, featuring elements like a hidden A-pillar, a sleek sideline, and a pronounced stamped area above the wheelhouse. The grille is now prominently rectangular, underscoring the Palisade’s bold SUV presence.
The headlights connected to the grille evoke a Land Rover-like aesthetic with their horizontally arranged rectangular LED lights. Consistent with recent Hyundai designs, LED strips extend along the bonnet line. The lower bumper resembles the current Palisade, with visible front sensors and air intake elements.
Controversy Over Land Rover Design Similarities
Similar Rear Design
The rear is similar to a Land Rover, enough to be called a baby Land Rover. The tail lights located next to the trunk have rectangular LED lamps arranged horizontally, reminiscent of a Land Rover. A thick rear spoiler is visible, and the lower part is painted black, which is different from the body color, making it feel more weighty.
In the case of the Palisade, a 3.5L V6 gasoline turbo engine, different from the currently applied engine, could be used. The current naturally aspirated engine with the same capacity could be boosted to 277 horsepower, and a hybrid model with a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine is also expected to be launched.
Hot topic Palisade
In addition to the existing 7- and 8-seater configurations, the new Palisade will offer a 9-seater model. This version will feature a 3+3+3 seating arrangement, allowing it to utilize bus-only lanes. The transmission will shift from a button-type to a column-type setup, enhancing functionality and user experience.
