Achieves Look Similar to Lyriq
Cadillac has officially unveiled the redesigned XT5, marking a major update for this mid-sized SUV. The new second-generation XT5 will primarily target the Chinese market, showcasing Cadillac’s strategic focus on China. This focus is underscored by the model’s debut, which took place in China.
This launch is part of Cadillac’s broader electrification strategy. As the brand transitions away from internal combustion engines, it plans to replace its SUV lineup with electric vehicles like the Escalade IQ, Lyriq, and Optic. Consequently, the internal combustion engine version of the XT5 is expected to be discontinued in North America, aligning with Cadillac’s shift towards electrification.

Split front lamp design
There’s been no announcement about Cadillac launching the new XT5 in markets outside China. Despite this, the model has garnered significant consumer interest, keeping the spotlight on its design changes. The updated XT5 features a fresh look, with the old XT5 badging removed and new design elements from Cadillac’s latest models incorporated, giving it a look similar to other recent Cadillac vehicles.
The redesigned XT5 shares a design language with the recently updated Escalade and the electric Lyriq. At the front, it features horizontal turn signals at the top and vertical headlights below. The two-part headlamp design includes sharply extended lines on the upper lamps, giving the XT5 a distinct and modern look.

Emphasis on sharp and angular lines
A vertical DRL is positioned inside the headlamp, and an LED module is connected vertically next to it. The black high-gloss trim that wraps around the headlamp box and the garnish that extends sharply toward the grille are the focal points of the front. In addition, the engraving and volume around the headlamp create a three-dimensional appearance.
The outline of the headlamp is concave, but the grille and surrounding body protrude in a voluminous manner, creating a contrast. The bumper’s air intake extends horizontally, and the bumper is applied with a streamlined curve. The side comprises a circular body cladding, a horizontal character line below the window belt line, and the angular volume of the side skirt.

The body size is also larger than before
A sleek black line extends from the roofline to the vehicle’s rear. At the back, ATheXT5 features ㄱ-shaped tail lamps, with vertical units stretching across the vehicle’s full width and slightly protruding. The horizontal tail lamps are designed with sharp lines and connect to a chrome garnish that links the tailgate. The rear bumper includes horizontal reflectors, reverse lights, and square muffler tips.
The body size has also increased as it has become a full-change model. It is 4,888 mm (192.4 inches) in length, 1,957 mm (77.0 inches) in width, 1,694 mm (66.7 inches) in height, and features a wheelbase of 2,863 mm (112.7 inches). Accordingly, the interior space is expected to be expanded further. Regarding powertrain, it is equipped with a 2.0-liter engine produced by SAIC, a partner of GM China, and generates a maximum output of 227 horsepower.
