Toyota’s compact hybrid SUV, the RAV4, is set for a full redesign slated for launch in 2025. The current RAV4 Hybrid has already significantly impacted South Korea, where its impressive fuel efficiency has driven strong sales. In 2023, it was the top-selling model within the Toyota brand, with 2,992 units sold in the region.
In the U.S., the RAV4 has become a flagship model, contributing to a quarter of Toyota’s total sales. Toyota aims to build on this success with the upcoming redesign. Expectations are high for significant design changes, and recently, renderings of the new RAV4 Hybrid have emerged, capturing considerable interest.

Emphasis on the sleek body shape
With no prototypes or test vehicles available for the upcoming full redesign of the Toyota RAV4, the recent renderings appear to be imaginative interpretations based on Toyota’s latest design language. These renderings showcase a more refined and sleek appearance than the current model.
Notably, the new design features thinner, more streamlined headlights seamlessly integrating with the upper grille. This contrasts with the existing RAV4, which sports a large octagonal radiator grille with a cross-octagon pattern. While the current design projects a strong presence, some critics have described the front fascia as somewhat harsh due to its angular lines. The new rendering suggests a smoother body shape, emphasizing a more fluid and modern aesthetic.

With the large grille removed, a body panel that extends in a curved and voluminous manner is placed in the front, and diagonally extended daytime running lights (DRL) are placed on the side. The DRL is shaped like a dotted line and extends to the bottom of the headlamp. In the case of the bumper, black high-gloss is placed and connects to the side cladding. Also, a trapezoidal angular air intake is placed in the center of the bumper to emphasize the sporty image.
On the side, the existing trapezoidal cladding has been changed to a circular shape, creating a smooth feel. The horizontal character line from the front wheel arch extends toward the rear and falls past the rear fender. The auto flush-type door handle is applied to emphasize the body line.

The high window belt line rises near the C pillar and connects to the roof line, making the rear quarter glass a thin triangular area. The roof line falls lower, closer to a coupe type, and a black two-tone treatment is applied. A thin chrome garnish is used below the roof line to enhance the sense of luxury.
At the rear, the new design features horizontal tail lamps that create a sleek, modern look. The design retains the existing theme, which extends sharply toward the rear quarter panels but with a more refined touch. The tailgate showcases a geometric pattern, with horizontal lines and volume that flow seamlessly into the overall design.
The lower bumper retains its robust shape but has reduced protrusion, giving it a more streamlined appearance. The circular muffler tip has been replaced with a thin, rectangular design, enhancing the vehicle’s contemporary aesthetic.
