That Day Has Come Again
Hyundai’s High-Performance Celebration: N DAY
A Compact N Vehicle Makes Its Debut?

Hyundai

Most Hyundai models are manufactured to run on regular roads, so they have many efficient features, such as a stable ride and excellent fuel efficiency. At the same time, they also have a high-performance brand called N. This shows that they can make vehicles that emphasize sportiness, like the high-performance brands of other global automakers.

Since the Hyundai N Line is a car for racing on the track, its braking power, cornering, and acceleration become its main issues. Hyundai N has developed and presented powerful racing cars to the public. The most famous one for us is probably the Ioniq 5 N. Hyundai N DAY is also the most important day to present it. Many things were shown on this Hyundai N DAY, but attention is focused on the revealed special vehicle.

Lighter and More Agile Than the Ioniq 5 N

The RN24, a high-performance variant, is smaller and lighter than Hyundai’s Ioniq 5 N, which has already made waves in the electric performance world. The RN24 sheds more than 300 kg (661 pounds) of weight compared to the Ioniq 5 N, thanks to an exoskeleton design inspired by World Rally Championship (WRC) vehicles, which strips away the upper steel panels. The result is a compact, nimble vehicle with a reduced wheelbase of 2,660 mm (104.7 inches). It is more agile and responsive, with dimensions that align with other compact Hyundai N models like the Kona N and i20 N.

Advanced Technology and High Power Output

While the RN24 has undergone significant size and weight reductions, it retains the same powertrain as the Ioniq 5 N. With an electric motor producing up to 650 horsepower and an 84 kWh battery, it promises impressive performance. However, the RN24 isn’t just about raw power. It integrates cutting-edge technology, such as rally mode electronic four-wheel control, which adjusts motor output and power distribution in real-time, enhancing cornering and stability on the track.

Drivers can customize their driving experience using onboard controls that adjust output, acceleration sensitivity, regenerative braking, and power balance. The RN24 also features an enhanced audio system with four speakers, including rear fender-mounted sound boxes that deliver a more immersive sound experience.

Proven Technology
Unlikely to Enter Production

The RN24 builds on the success of the Ioniq 5 N, which earned accolades like the high-performance car award at the World Car Awards and the Car of the Year title at the Top Gear Awards. While the RN24 showcases Hyundai N’s technological capabilities, it’s unlikely to enter mass production, unlike the N Vision 74, another high-performance concept set for commercialization.

Hyundai executives have hinted that while the RN24 might remain a concept, it signals the brand’s intent to continue developing compact, high-performance electric vehicles. Industry insiders speculate that new N-line electric models could hit the market within the next decade, bringing the RN24’s high-performance DNA to a broader audience.
