A man in his thirties who created and distributed thousands of illegal pornography videos by synthesizing the faces of underage idol members and other celebrities while studying in the United States has been brought to trial.

Recently, the Jeju District Prosecutor’s Office announced that a man in his thirties, Mr. A, has been arrested and indicted on charges of violating the Special Act on Punishment of Sexual Crimes, the Act on the Protection of Children and Juveniles Against Sexual Abuse, and the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection.

Mr. A is accused of producing about 2,300 pornographic videos by synthesizing the faces of underage idol members and other celebrities for about four years, from August 2019 to June this year. He distributed about 5,800 synthesized pornographic videos through his membership-based Telegram chat rooms and other platforms.

However, it was revealed that Mr. A did not sell these pornographic materials.

According to the police investigation, at least 50 celebrities have been identified as victims of Mr. A’s pornographic materials.

Previously, the police confirmed Mr. A’s Telegram chat rooms in December last year and found out he was staying in the United States.

Subsequently, the police obtained an arrest warrant for Mr. A, invalidated his passport, and requested cooperation from US law enforcement agencies through Interpol’s red notice system.

In June, the US police arrested Mr. A at his residence in the United States.

Although Mr. A refused to be deported to his home country and applied for bail, the US court denied his bail application and decided to deport him.

Afterward, Mr. A was handcuffed and escorted by the police upon his arrival at Incheon International Airport on the 22nd of last month.

It has been revealed that Mr. A stated, “While I was in Korea, I accidentally came across fake videos and then started producing and distributing fake videos for my satisfaction.”
