Only PH Telco in the list of 500 global sustainability frontrunners

MANILA, Philippines, July 8, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Globe, the Philippines’ leading digital solutions platform and telecommunications provider, has secured a coveted spot on TIME Magazine and Statista’s prestigious World’s Most Sustainable Companies 2025 list. Globe stands out as the sole Philippine telco to achieve this global recognition.

This accolade places Globe among an elite group of 500 companies worldwide, selected from over 5,000 firms across more than 30 countries, for their outstanding environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance. With just 11 Southeast Asian companies making the cut, Globe’s inclusion underscores the rising prominence of emerging market enterprises in global ESG leadership.

\”This recognition is a testament to our ongoing efforts to harness telecommunications and technology for nation-building through sustainable practices,\” said Globe President and CEO Carl Cruz. \”For us, sustainability isn’t just about hitting targets—it’s about driving real, positive change for the communities we serve. Our inclusion in this list validates our approach and reinforces our commitment to continuous improvement.\”

The ranking evaluated companies based on more than 20 indicators, including ESG commitments, third-party ratings, adoption of sustainability reporting standards, and environmental and social stewardship.

Key ESG practices and milestones that contributed to Globe’s recognition include:

As the Philippines’ largest mobile network and a major player in the country’s digital infrastructure, Globe is at the forefront of advancing digital inclusion while transitioning to clean energy. In 2024, renewable sources accounted for 24% of its electricity consumption, with plans to convert over 150 additional sites to green energy in the next two years.

The company has also deployed over 38,000 green network solutions, including energy-efficient hardware and alternative fuel sources, significantly reducing its greenhouse gas emissions.

On the social front, Globe has cultivated an inclusive workplace culture, with women comprising 44% of its workforce and the company offering same-sex benefits to employees. Globe’s commitment to employee well-being is further evidenced by its ISO 45001:2018 certification for occupational health and safety management.

\”Our inclusion in this global list reflects our strategic push to elevate ESG from a compliance issue to a core business driver,\” said Yoly Crisanto, Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer. \”We’re proud to represent the Philippines on the world stage and demonstrate that homegrown companies can lead with meaningful impact.\”

Notably, Ayala Land, Inc., another member of the Ayala Group, also secured a spot on the TIME list, further highlighting the group’s collective dedication to responsible and sustainable business practices.
