Tasman Pickup Truck Spotted During Night Drive
Headlights and Lights Stand Out
Huge Size of the Vehicle Attracts Attention

The Tasman, a pickup truck being developed by Kia, was spotted during a nighttime drive in Korea. Despite being covered in thick camouflage, it boasted a hefty size. Thanks to its suspension, it maintained stability even when driving at high speed over rough terrain.

KGM is the only brand producing pickup trucks in Korea, limiting options. As car camping and other leisure activities continue to gain popularity post-Covid, pickup trucks like the Tasman are receiving increased attention and high expectations.

Shares Platform with Mohave
Applies Kia’s Latest Design

The Tasman spotted this time was driving in the dark, making its headlight outline and lights more prominent. The angular headlights harmonized with the bold and edgy body design. Let’s take a closer look at the recently captured spy shots.

The Tasman is anticipated to share the family look with the Telluride, a strategic model for the North American market, as it shares a platform with the Mohave. A rugged and masculine design typical of pickup trucks is expected to be applied. Starting from the front, narrow and vertically emphasized headlights are arranged. They are placed on the sides of the body to highlight the vehicle’s width. It is expected to reflect Kia’s latest design elements, including the Starmap signature lighting.

Steep Angle of the A-pillar
How Big Will It Be?

The A-pillar on the side has a steep angle of close to 45 degrees, and the roofline extends straight. The rear also descends at an angle similar to the front, creating a balanced body proportion. The overall silhouette has a body-on-frame form. The thick cladding of the wheel arch emphasizes volume, and the angular design elements suggest the design theme of the Tasman.

The high ground clearance emphasizes the pickup truck’s unique image, and applying a double wishbone on the front wheel and leaf spring suspension on the rear wheel provides a stable driving sensation. The vehicle is 213 inches long, 76 inches wide, 74 inches high, and has a wheelbase of 129 inches. Despite driving at night covered in camouflage, its enormous size is evident.

Electric Powertrain to be Added

The interior is expected to reflect various of the latest systems. The newest convenience specifications, including the ccNC entertainment system and a wide display, are anticipated to be provided. The Tasman’s powertrain will first showcase a 2.2 diesel engine and a 2.5 gasoline turbo, and a lineup expansion plan includes the addition of an electric powertrain by 2026.
