Genesis unveiled the high-performance supercar X Gran Berlinetta concept car at 2024 New York International Auto Show. The signature color of Genesis’ recently unveiled high-performance brand, Magma, was applied to the exterior. The Gran Berlinetta was unveiled once in December 2023.

It was created in collaboration with the racing game Gran Turismo, and customers can drive using the vehicle in the game. More people could see it up close through its unveiling at the 2024 New York International Auto Show.

It was designed by Genesis’ senior design team and revealed that the grand tourers of the 1960s greatly inspired it. Looking at the front, Genesis’ crest grill is triangular. Quad lamps are applied along the parting lines of the grille and bonnet, and the two lines extend long across the side front fender.

At the bottom, a huge air intake, designed like a grille, creates the image of a high-performance supercar. A diamond-cut pattern was inserted, creating a sharp, stabbing look in the center. The expansive bonnet appears to flow in a streamlined manner. The vehicle body is inflated by giving a rich sense of volume to the left and right lines of the bonnet.

Uniquely, there is a long hole in the bonnet. A straight-air vent improves cooling performance. 21-inch double 5-spoke sports wheels, performance tires, and sports suspension lower the ride height and thick side skirts create an aggressive design. A soft curved volume was added to the fender, and a flowing line like a wave continued to the rear.

Two rows of tail lamps were placed in the rear part with Genesis lettering between them. The fully raised rear spoiler shows off its beautiful appearance. The curved line is also applied to the rear line and falls smoothly to the bottom. The angled diffuser contrasts with this, emphasizing the identity of a high-performance vehicle and achieving design harmony.

Notably, the signature color of Genesis’ Magma brand was applied. Previously, Genesis also unveiled the GV80 Coupe concept car in April 2023, and the orange color was also applied at that time. This can be interpreted as Genesis having been making specific preparations for the launch of the Magma brand for at least a year in advance.

Following the GV80 Coupe Concept, the Gran Berlinetta Concept was unveiled in December 2023, and it was confirmed that a unified orange color was applied. It was assumed to be the signature color of Genesis’ high-performance brand, which would be launched later. What Genesis has prepared for the Magma brand stands out. After the Magma was unveiled, some people raised suspicions, saying it did not have the same impact as Mercedes-Benz’s AMG or BMW M series, which are imported high-performance lineups in the South Korean market. As Genesis Magma is slowly unveiled, attention is being paid to whether it will overcome suspicions.
