The Cayenne revived Porsche, which suffered from poor management in the 1990s and established itself as a symbol of high-performance SUVs. It served as an opportunity for many sports car manufacturers to enter the SUV market. At that time, it was a model so popular around the world that it was responsible for half of Porsche’s sales.

Porsche is once again targeting the automobile market through SUVs. The three-row large electric SUV codenamed K1, developed by Porsche, was captured for the first time. As there is still a lot of time left until 2027, when it is scheduled to be released, it appears to be an initial test vehicle, and various changes are expected to occur after that.

High overall height and long wheelbase
The vertically falling rear part

This test vehicle allowed us to examine its overall shape. What stands out is that it has a high overall height typical of SUVs while having a longer wheelbase than the Cayenne. As expected from a high-performance vehicle, the vehicle height was lowered as much as possible. The roofline is flatter than the Cayenne, with the rear part falling almost vertically.

Unlike the Panamera’s angled headlamp line, Porsche’s traditional round headlamp design is applied to the K1. As for the front part, like an electric vehicle, an angular and flat design was used without a grille, and the lower air duct, which is horizontal to match the vehicle’s width, emphasizes that it is a high-performance vehicle.

Pixel Pattern Tail Lamp
Aggressive Rear Design

In the case of the rear, thin tail lamps with a pixel pattern were applied, adding to the future-oriented image of the electric vehicle. The tailgate and bumper were designed quite aggressively. In keeping with the horizontal design trend, straight, angled volumes were added to the rear. On the side, a square air duct was placed.

Circular cladding was applied along the wheel arches for the side parts. A structure was added to the door trim to intentionally create a sense of volume, which appears to be a measure to hide the detailed design. According to Porsche CEO Oliver Blume in March 2023, the K1 was reportedly designed to provide powerful performance and automated driving.

Total Output of One Thousand Horsepower
435 miles Range on a Single Full Charge

K1 was developed based on Volkswagen’s next-generation electric vehicle platform SSP (Scalable Systems Platform). It is expected to have a combined total output of 1,000 horsepower with dual electric motor specifications. Also, it is likely to be equipped with a large-capacity battery and provide a driving range of 700 km (435 miles) when fully charged. Equipped with Porsche turbocharging technology, it only takes 15 minutes to charge from 10 to 80%.

According to a Porsche insider, the price is far higher than that of the Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT due to the development of the latest electric motor, high-performance battery, and fast charging technology. The German market price of the Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT is 150,500 pounds (about $190,000), and in Korea, it is sold for 261.9 million won (about $193,710). Accordingly, the price of K1 is expected to be 300 million won (about $220,000).
