Mixed Reviews: Ram’s New Pickup Truck Model Faces Criticism in the U.S.

Dodge’s Pickup Truck Model RAM
Announces a New Model Release
But Faces Criticism Locally?

The pickup truck is the symbol of America. Dodge’s full-size pickup truck, the Ram, is one model that American consumers greatly love. This model, which first appeared in 1981 and is still the most loved by Americans, ranks third among American vehicles along with Ford’s F series pickup truck and Chevrolet Silverado and continues to be a steady seller.

In line with its reputation, it continued to launch high-performance models, such as the Hellcat TRX model equipped with a high-output, high-displacement engine. This time, RAM unveiled a teaser video announcing the launch of a new high-performance pickup truck. It is said to be revealed on April 25, 2024, in the U.S. What will surprise people this time?

Successor to the TRX model
The 2025 RAM 1500 RHO

The pickup truck in the teaser video has not been revealed, and no detailed information has been released. However, it is expected to be the new RHO model, the successor to the high-performance trim TRX. Previously, Ram announced the launch of the 2025 Ram 1500 Rebel, a pickup truck equipped with a new Hurricane engine, in the third quarter of 2024. The model’s twin-turbo 3.0-liter in-line 6-cylinder engine is expected to produce an output of about 540 horsepower combined with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The new RHO is expected to have a powertrain with superior performance.

Currently, the in-line 6-cylinder 3.0-liter Hurricane twin-turbo engine is being pointed out as a likely powertrain to replace the 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi V8 engine that produces 702 horsepower. The engine is expected to produce at least 550 horsepower. In the U.S., it is likely to compete with the Ford F-150 Raptor R.

Improved product value
Electric model expected to be launched soon

The interior is also expected to be further improved compared to the existing model. Considering the 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, 14.5-inch infotainment system, and 10.25-inch passenger display applied to the recently facelifted base model, similar cutting-edge technologies are expected to be applied to the new Ram 1500 RHO.

After this model’s launch, Ram plans to launch an electric pickup truck called the 1500 REV in 2024. The Ram 1500 REV is expected to compete with the Chevrolet Silverado EV, Cybertruck, and Ford F-150 Lightning.

Disappointment in the U.S.

Since this pickup truck is well-known in the U.S., the local response is enthusiastic. However, most people are disappointed that it is equipped with a V6 engine instead of a V8 Hemi engine. People who are disappointed with pickups from Chevrolet or Ford in the U.S. seem to be even more disappointed because this is the Ram model they waited for, saying it was their last hope.
