K-Pop Bombshell: 4Minute Singer’s Candid Confession about Agency Pressure

Singer Jeon Ji Yoon revealed that she was once suggested to shave her head while with the band 4Minute.

On May 5, Calorie Bomb Burger and Nighttime Open Market held a second-round competition on MBC’s Masked Singer.

The battle’s winner was Nighttime Open Market, and the unmasked Calorie Bomb Burger was Jeon Ji Yoon, a former member of 4Minute.

Jeon shared, “I am working hard on creating an album with a mixed-gender three-member band.”

4Minute, the group Jeon was a part of, is a representative girl-crush group of second-generation K-pop. When asked about her initial reaction to the concept, she said, “I was in charge of a unique character, and the CEO suggested that I shave my head because it’s pretty. I was at an age where I wanted to be beautiful. Fortunately, they thought shaving was too much, so we agreed on a short haircut.”

“I’ve dyed my hair yellow, green, and pink,” she added.

Nicknamed “Jeon Glasses” for wearing sunglasses on every stage, Jeon elaborated, “My agency told me not to take them off. They thought it would pique curiosity. It was honestly frustrating. But I’m grateful that Lee Hyori took a chance on me and allowed me to feature in her work.”

Jeon expressed her feelings about appearing on Masked Singer, saying, “I was so happy to see everyone on TV after a long time and to meet my long-time colleagues.”
