Incheon Airport: Affordable Yet Uncommon Ways to Pass the Time While Waiting

The journey to the airport is always an exhilarating moment. However, upon arriving at the airport early, one may often find oneself with an abundance of time and little to occupy it, leading to feelings of boredom.

Surprisingly, many individuals are unaware of the numerous hidden services available at the airports we frequent. Let me introduce some budget-friendly strategies for maximizing your idle time at Incheon Airport.

‘Spa on Air’ is recommended for those wishing to rest briefly before departing on early morning flights or embarking on journeys. Here, you can enjoy shower facilities, saunas, massages, and immaculate sleeping quarters separated for men and women, akin to those in top-tier hotel spas. With private sleeping rooms available, it’s an ideal place to relax.

Spa on Air is situated on the underground first floor of Terminal 1 at Incheon Airport. It is open 24 hours a day and available for use at any time. The sauna fee is 10,000 won ($8.50) for two hours per person. If you wish to use the sauna and steam room, the cost is 20,000 won ($17) for six hours during the day (08:0020:00) and 25,000 won ($21) for six hours at night (20:0008:00 the next day).

If one happens to arrive at the airport earlier than anticipated, the ensuing rush and burden of heavy luggage often lead to exhaustion even before boarding the aircraft. To optimize this spare time and indulge in a brief respite before departure, we highly recommend availing yourself of the Nap Zones.

The Nap Zones are strategically situated on the fourth floor of Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 and within the boarding area. These designated areas are characterized by subdued lighting, tranquil ambiance, and ergonomically designed sleeping chairs. Each seating arrangement is accompanied by convenient power outlets, facilitating the charging of various electronic devices. Moreover, it is noteworthy that these facilities are provided to travelers at no additional cost. Furthermore, it presents a serene setting to unwind and appreciate the expansive vistas the airport surroundings offer.

The paid shower facilities are near gates 268 and 231 in the duty-free area on the fourth floor of Terminal 2. The shower room fee is 15,000 won ($13) for 30 minutes for regular passengers and 7,000 won ($6) for transfer passengers. Complimentary amenities are provided upon usage of the shower facilities. For those intending to freshen up before embarking on their travels, we highly recommend availing themselves of these shower facilities. Additionally, Terminal 1 is equipped with shower rooms exclusively designated for transfer passengers.

If you are exhausted from the endless waiting without a phone battery, I recommend utilizing the internet lounges. These lounges are located on the fourth floors of Terminals 1 and 2. Even without a personal computer, you can browse the web while waiting at these lounges.

Additionally, various cafes throughout Incheon Airport provide internet access, printing, copying, and other services. These spots come in handy when you suddenly remember an e-ticket or hotel voucher left at home or when urgent matters arise.

At Incheon Airport, passengers can enjoy high-quality performances such as classical, traditional, and media performances free of charge. Near Gate 121 in the boarding area, there is a guard changing ceremony, which takes place three times a day at 10:00, 11:30, and 13:30. In the duty-free area on the third floor of Terminal 1, there are regular traditional music performances. These indoor performances mainly feature folk and fusion music and are held four times daily at 10:00, 11:00, 13:00, and 14:00. Additionally, visitors can experience busking performances, royal walks, and more.

Visitors can also explore various artworks at the Korean Traditional Culture Center, including media and fine art. It’s a great way to pass the time and indulge in Korean culture at Incheon Airport.
