Genesis G90 Shooting Brake Concept Wows Car Enthusiasts

What If Genesis Released a Wagon Version of the Flagship G90?
Imaginary Design Sparks Explosive Reaction

‘The Korean automobile market, notorious as the “graveyard of wagons,” has seen lackluster sales for every brand that has released a wagon. In the 90s, all domestic car manufacturers had a wagon model, but now only the Genesis G70 Shooting Brake exists.

But what if Genesis were to create a wagon based on the flagship sedan G90? Especially if it incorporated the recently announced high-performance division Magma? Someone’s rendering of this imagination is attracting attention.

The G90 Shooting Brake Magma
is filled with high-performance sentiment

Automotive CGI specialist stuBio unveiled a virtual rendering of the Genesis G90 Shooting Brake on their YouTube channel on the 26th. It’s a purely imaginary model, and it’s safe to say that Genesis has no plans for the strictly imaginary model. Yet, its natural integration and striking visuals have sparked discussion among netizens.

The base G90, a flagship sedan emphasizing luxury, features a calm and horizontal front. The G90 Shooting Brake emphasizes high-performance sentiment with the design of the Genesis X Convertible Concept car applied to the front bumper. The aggressive style stands out with an enlarged lower duct and a pattern similar to the Crest Grill. All chrome parts are finished in black, and the increased fender volume completes a vast and low body proportion.

The slender proportion unique to wagons adds speed to the DLO line.

The G90 sedan shows the most significant difference from the side of a wagon. While the sedan’s roof line stretches down from the C pillar, the G90 Shooting Brake creates a wagon’s unique silhouette heading horizontally. The DLO line shows a refreshing sense of speed as the upper part gently descends from the second row.

The wheel design, where retro sentiment and sportiness coexist, is also borrowed from the X Convertible Concept car. The color is differentiated in black, and the symbolic orange body is treated with a matte finish to emphasize Magma’s identity. The car’s height is also lowered to enhance the image of a high-performance wagon. The widened panoramic sunroof also attracts attention.

Maximizing the existing design

The rear end can be considered the highlight of the Shooting Brake. It’s said to utilize the arched trunk lid of the existing sedan design that curves upwards. At the bottom of the bumper, the unique Genesis shield-shaped muffler tips are arranged in a dual twin layout to match the sports concept. The untouched taillights also naturally blend with the distinctive rear end of the Shooting Brake.
