Moment Motor Company, an American vehicle tuning company, transformed the Jaguar E-Type into an electric vehicle. They stated that tuning the existing model to an electric vehicle was necessary because internal combustion engine engines are cumbersome and difficult to repair, maintain, and ride.

For tuning work, they used CAD imaging and 3D modeling to analyze the installation of an electric powertrain. This allowed them to find the most efficient and perfect location for the motor: the existing transmission tunnel. The motor was created to produce 300 horsepower through a carbon fiber drive shaft.

The battery capacity is 60 kWh, enabling a driving range of approximately 280 km ( 174 miles) on a single full charge. The 0-100 km/h ( 62 mph) time of the existing internal combustion engine model was measured to be less than 7 seconds, but it is noteworthy that the time was shortened to the mid-5 seconds by switching to an electric motor. However, the most disappointing thing is that the engine sound and vibration that can be felt from an internal combustion engine are lost due to the installation of an electric motor.

Unlike the complete powertrain change, there are almost no changes to the exterior or interior. However, it is said that a gauge has been added inside to check the vehicle’s condition, such as power consumption and charging status. Many people were shocked to see a classic car, one of the most important vehicles in automotive history, transformed into an electric vehicle with an electric motor.

Moment Motor Company is well-known in this field and has already attempted to electrify other classic vehicles and the Jaguar E-Type. However, the cost of electrifying a classic vehicle, which is already difficult to obtain, is beyond imagination.
